Regional fuels and lubricants distributor WP Group, employing 70 people and headquartered by Fawley Refinery, near Southampton, today welcomed news from the Budget that a planned rise in fuel duty will be delayed by a year.
Darren Borras, Group Commercial Manager, pictured, said: “The impact on fuel-reliant businesses, from hauliers to growers, of rising oil prices has been sharply felt in the past few months, putting the squeeze on their profit margins at a time when most companies are in recession recovery mode.
“Putting off fuel duty for another year will at least give them a welcome, albeit small, respite. The cancellation of the fuel duty escalator, which would have added 1p a year in future years on the price of fuel, also spells good news for the sector, as does the fact that fuel duty will be cut by 1p from 6pm today.”
WP Group has been supplying high-quality fuels and lubricants to businesses and homes for more than half a century, and closely monitors fuel prices to ensure best value for customers.
With multiple business divisions and close associations with leading brands, such as Mobil, WP Group is working hard to keep your business moving, processes operating and homes, offices and schools heated.
